Cosmetics has always been something that has interested me from the time I was young and playing with my mother's makeup. As a teenager I had an acne problem, which made me very familiar with cosmetic products used for that and my interest continued from there. My mentor actually worked as a cosmetics manager and she helped me develop my interest as well as my knowledge of the industry. Since then I have completed my Cosmetology/Esthetics course from Stratford Career Institute in Ontario, Canada. I have worked in the industry from the time I started working at the age of 16.
Cosmetics is defined in many ways, "as a powder, lotion, lipstick, rouge, or other preparation for beautifying the face, skin, hair, nails, etc." It can also be defined as superficial measures to make something appear better, more attractive, or more impressive". Cosmetics have the amazing power to help cover burns, bruises, scars and discolored skin. So lets look a little further into the history of cosmetics.
